Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 6 (ANI): Women in Varanasi are filled with excitement on the occasion of the Haritalika Teej festival.
There is special enthusiasm among them as they observe a Nirjala fast to wish for the long lives of their husbands.
Women have been applying mehndi to their hands since early morning and preparing for prayers, wishing for the long lives of their husbands.
Devotees took a holy dip and offered prayers at the Ganga River on the occasion of Haritalika.
The markets, filled with items for worship and adornment, are crowded due to the festival.
Devotees also took a holy dip and offered prayers at Sangam on the occasion of Haritalika Teej in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj.
It is noteworthy that Teej holds significant importance in Varanasi; since this fast is associated with Shiva and Parvati, it is of even greater importance here.
On this day, women enthusiastically dressed up in various ways. Some apply mehndi, some do shopping, and some prepare special dishes.
This fast is observed without water. Women will spend the entire day engaged in worship, rituals, and adornment, and the fast will conclude with a feast the following morning.
This festival is celebrated with joy and excitement, with prayers offered to Shiva and Parvati. (ANI)
