Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 29 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated the nationwide Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Bishramganj, emphasising the importance of agriculture in improving the country's financial condition.
The campaign aims to leverage technology, including Artificial Intelligence, to advance agriculture in the state.
Dr Saha highlighted the Prime Minister's emphasis on agriculture and the need to incorporate modern technologies to boost the sector. The campaign will run for at least twelve days, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and aligning with the 'Five Gs' symbiosis concept.
"Our Prime Minister repeatedly emphasises that without focusing on agriculture, the country's financial condition cannot improve. In Tripura, we are working together under the guidance of the PM. Incorporating Artificial Intelligence and aligning with the concept of the 'Five Gs' symbiosis, we are initiating its implementation here as well," said the Tripura CM.
The Chief Minister assured that Tripura will work under the guidance of the Prime Minister to implement the campaign effectively. By integrating technology, the state aims to improve agricultural productivity and contribute to the country's economic growth.
"This campaign begins today and will continue for at least twelve days. By integrating technology, we are committed to advancing agriculture in the state," added Dr Saha.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan started on May 29 and will continue until June 12 across over 700 districts nationwide. Under this campaign, a team of scientists will travel from village to village, engaging in direct interaction with farmers.
The campaign will include participation from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 113 Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) institutes, state-level departments, and officials from agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, as well as innovative farmers. It aims to reach and interact directly with 1.5 crore (15 million) farmers across the country.
On May 24, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while addressing agricultural scientists from across the country at the NASC Complex, New Delhi, affirmed the government's commitment towards advancing agricultural research under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and assured that there will be no shortage of funds for research and innovation.
Describing the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan as a result-oriented initiative, he expressed confidence that its outcomes, increased yields and reduced costs, would be visible as early as the upcoming Kharif season.
The Minister also urged the country's scientists to showcase their research capabilities on the global stage, asserting that India's agricultural institutions possess the strength and excellence that can earn global recognition. He lauded the dedication of agricultural scientists and stated that the nation would express its gratitude to them following the successful completion of this campaign. (ANI)
