New Delhi [India], February 9 (ANI): In a landmark victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decisively ousted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and is set to form the government with a two-thirds majority. NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal hailed the results as a resounding endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and vision for a Viksit Bharat.
"The people of Delhi have spoken, and their verdict is clear: they want a double-engineered government under PM Modi," Chahal stated. He criticised the decade-long governance of the AAP, accusing it of political theatrics, broken promises, and a failure to address key civic issues such as pothole-ridden roads, a polluted Yamuna, and inadequate water supply.
With BJP now at the helm, Chahal assured that the capital would witness a transformation similar to that seen in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. He emphasised that major infrastructure projects--including metro expansions, new highways, and flyovers--would now progress without delays. The Ayushman Bharat scheme will be fully implemented, ensuring free healthcare for the underprivileged.
One of the party's top priorities will be cleaning the Yamuna River, which, under the AAP government, had deteriorated into an open drain. "Proper sewage treatment, waste management, and pollution control will now be tackled with urgency," Chahal affirmed.
Highlighting NDMC's proactive development model, Chahal announced that night sweeping, already introduced in select areas, will be expanded to key markets such as Khan Market and Connaught Place. Other upcoming initiatives include a 24/7 water supply, rooftop solar panels, and high-tech public toilets. The long-pending Gole Market redevelopment project, stalled due to the election code of conduct, will now be expedited.
Chahal also revealed that NDMC is focusing on increasing green spaces, revamping old buildings, and improving urban aesthetics through a newly established architecture and art & culture board. This initiative aims to boost Delhi's urban landscape while enhancing rental revenue.
"With strong leadership, a clear vision, and the unwavering support of the people, Delhi is set to become a model city for development," Chahal concluded. "Under the double-engine government, the capital will thrive like never before, aligning with PM Modi's mission for a Viksit Bharat." (ANI)
