"Will wait for day...." Assam CM Sarma on Uniform Civil Code

Guwahati (Assam) [India], January 10 (ANI): Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that they will wait for the day when Assam will become such a state which will implement the Uniform Civil Code after Uttarakhand and Gujarat.
While addressing a meeting of the state BJP unit here, CM Sarma said, "We will wait for that day when Assam will become such a state which will implement the Uniform Civil Code after Uttarakhand and Gujarat".
The idea behind the Uniform Civil Code is to formulate and implement personal laws that will apply uniformly to all citizens regardless of their religion, gender, and sexual orientation.
Earlier, weighing in on the proposed rollout of the UCC across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country cannot run on two laws and the Uniform Civil Code was in keeping with the founding principles and ideals of the Constitution.
Referring to the "Pran Prathishtha" ceremony at Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the Assam CM appealed to the people of the state and all BJP workers to light diya in their own houses.
"I appeal to the people of Assam and all BJP workers to light diya in their own houses. We will conduct Swachh Abhiyan in all religious institutions on January 16-19 in the state," he said.
Preparations are underway in full swing for the Ram Temple 'Pran Pratishtha' on January 22, which will draw dignitaries and people from all walks of life. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided to enthrone Ram Lalla at the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram Temple at noon on January 22.
Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya will begin on January 16, a week before the main ceremony.
A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will perform the main rituals of the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22. From January 14 to January 22, Ayodhya will mark the Amrit Mahotsav.
Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, holds great spiritual, historical, and cultural significance for the people of India. (ANI)
