"Will submit post-mortem report before court": Assam CM Sarma on Zubeen Garg death

In his Facebook live, the Assam Chief Minister said that the post-mortem report of Singapore has already been given to Garima Saikia Garg.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 3 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the second post-mortem report of Zubeen Garg, which was conducted at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital would be given to Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia Garg tomorrow - October 4 and would summit it before court.
In his Facebook live, the Assam Chief Minister said that the post-mortem report of Singapore has already been given to Garima Saikia Garg.
He further said that the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court has approved Justice Soumitra Saikia to chair the Judicial Commission to probe the death of Zubeen Garg.
"So far, four people - Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta have been arrested and police have been able to get them 14 days police remand. Now we are waiting that, the other Assamese people of Singapore should come and co-operate the investigation process. If they will not come then we will be strong against them. Yesterday we have given the post-mortem report of Singapore to Zubeen Garg's wife Garima Garg. We will hand over the second post-mortem report conducted at Guwahati Medical College & Hospital to Garima Garg tomorrow. Whether the GMCH post-mortem report will make public or not, it will be decided by Garima Garg. We will also submit the post-mortem report before the court," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
He further said that the state government will form Justice Soumitra Saikia Commission to probe the death of Zubeen Garg.
"We had requested the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court to form a Judicial Commission comprise with a sitting Judge to investigate the death of Zubeen Garg. The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court has approved Justice Soumitra Saikia to chair this Judicial Commission. Tomorrow we will form Justice Soumitra Saikia Commission," Sarma said.
The singer died in Singapore on September 19 in a scuba diving accident, a day before he was supposed to perform at the Northeast India Festival. His mortal remains were first flown to Delhi and later transported to Guwahati on September 21 by a commercial flight.
Meanwhile, Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the Northeast India Festival, who was arrested in connection with the death case of singer Zubeen Garg, has approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the investigation from Assam Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) to a central agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Mahanta, who has been arrested by the Assam CID, has also sought the appointment of a retired Supreme Court judge to monitor and supervise the investigation pertaining to the death of the singer. (ANI)
