"Will stand by it..." Odisha Minister Suryabanshi Suraj on BJP's 'Gogo Didi' scheme for Jharkhand

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India], November 4 (ANI): Reiterating the Bharatiya Janata Party's promise to provide Rs 2,100 per month to every woman in Jharkhand if they come to power, Odisha Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said that the commitments made to women in the State have been successfully delivered and that the same will be implemented in Jharkhand.

Commenting on the 'Gogo Didi scheme' announced in Jharkhand by Home Minister Amit Shah, Suraj on Monday while speaking to ANI said, "The promises which Hemant Soren made and came to power in 2019 are not fulfilled. BJP is going to form the government in Jharkhand. Today Amit Shah said regarding the 'Gogo Didi scheme' that Rs. 2100 would be given to every woman. In the neighbouring state of Jharkhand, that is Odisha we had promised that we would provide financial assistance to the women in need and after the formation of the government we fulfilled our promise, now we have promised in Jharkhand, we will stand by it again".
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday vowed to provide Rs 2,100 per month to every woman in Jharkhand if the BJP wins the upcoming Assembly elections.

"Under the 'Gogo Didi scheme', women will be given Rs 2100 every month. Free LPG gas cylinders will be given on Diwali and Rakshabandhan and the cylinders will be given for Rs 500. 5 lakh employment opportunities will be created for the youth of Jharkhand," Shah said.

In response to Shah's statement about implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, minister Suraj said that the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration remains a significant problem and must be addressed.

"Bangladeshi infiltrators are a huge problem in Jharkhand. They are taking away the opportunities of the local people... The locals are also concerned about this. The BJP will work on this problem in the coming times," the Odisha minister said.

Exuding confidence in BJP's victory in the state, Suryabanshi Suraj said, "We will definitely form a government in Jharkhand and with full majority"

Amit Shah yesterday released the BJP's Sankalp Patra (Manifesto) in Ranchi and announced the party will implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand and will also "drive out infiltrators" coming from Bangladesh.

Outlining the 25 resolutions to mark 25 years of the state's formation, Shah said, "Hemant Babu, a Uniform Civil Code will certainly be implemented in Jharkhand, but the identity and heritage of the tribal communities will be fully preserved."

"Uniform Civil Code will be introduced in Jharkhand but the Tribal community will be kept out of the ambit of UCC," he said.

The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill was a proposal in India to establish uniform rules for personal matters for all citizens. These matters include marriage, divorce, inheritance, and property rights. The UCC would apply to all citizens equally, regardless of their religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

Elections for 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly will be conducted in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23. (ANI)
