New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a fully automated vehicle testing station at the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus depot in Nand Nagri, and reiterated her government's commitment to reducing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna, and providing all necessary facilities to residents.

The event was also attended by Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a major development for women commuters, stating, "We have prepared to bring 'Pink Cards', in place of 'Pink tickets', in DTC buses for our sisters in Delhi... We will reduce pollution, clean Yamuna, develop infrastructure and give all facilities to the residents of Delhi."
The fully automated vehicle testing station is designed to conduct fitness checks for up to 72,000 vehicles annually.
According to officials, the facility will operate with zero human intervention, ensuring a transparent, reliable, and technology-driven process for vehicle fitness assessments.
Furthermore, Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that the project reflects the Delhi government's broader vision of modernising the transport infrastructure while maintaining environmental responsibility.
The testing centre is expected to enhance road safety, promote green mobility, and support a more sustainable public transport system.
According to the official statement, the facility will use advanced machinery to test emissions and mechanical fitness of vehicles, thereby contributing to pollution reduction in the national capital.
The Delhi government has recently taken several initiatives to promote eco-friendly and efficient transportation, including the introduction of electric buses, the scrapping of old, polluting vehicles, and the digitisation of transport services. The new testing station aligns with these efforts.
The foundation-laying ceremony at Nand Nagri comes amid Delhi's broader push for smarter, cleaner, and safer urban mobility solutions. The project is expected to be completed in the coming months. (ANI)
