"Will question all those who need to be questioned": Chairman Judicial Commission probing Hathras stampede incident

The commission will prepare an investigation report on five points within two months and the investigation report will be submitted to the government.

Hathras (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 6 (ANI): The Judicial Inquiry Commission formed by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Hathras incident on Saturday inspected the site where the stampede took place on 2nd July claiming the lives of 121 people.
The commission will prepare an investigation report on five points within two months and the investigation report will be submitted to the government.
Former IAS officer Hemant Rao and former IPS officer Bhavesh Kumar Singh were present in the judicial inquiry commission constituted under the chairmanship of former Allahabad High Court judge Brijesh Kumar Srivastava.
After the inspection, Justice Brijesh Kumar Srivastava (retired), chairman of the Judicial Inquiry Commission committee, while talking to the media, said that they will question all those who need to be questioned in the case.
"We saw the entire spot. What were the entry and exit points? We can't come to any conclusion right now. All the members (of the committee) are present here. We will question all those who need to be questioned. Yes, we will submit our report within 2 months because we have been mandated," he said.
Meanwhile, Devprakash Madhukar, the main suspect in the Hathras stampede, has surrendered in front of SIT, STF and Police, his Advocate AP Singh said in a video message on Friday.
Advocate AP Singh said, "Dev Prakash Madhukar who was named in the FIR in the Hathras case, was said to be the main organiser has surrendered in front of SIT, STF and Police. We have handed him over to the SIT and the Uttar Pradesh Police. Now a thorough investigation can be done...His health should be taken care of, he is a heart patient and nothing wrong should happen to him..."
Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday morning reached Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to meet with the families of the people affected by the July 2 stampede.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adidyanath announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the victims who lost their lives, along with Rs 50,000 for the people who got injured there.
As per the prima facie report, the stampede took place when devotees rushed to seek blessings and collect soil from around the preacher's feet, but were stopped from doing so by his security personnel. They then started pushing one another due to which several people fell triggering chaos at the site. (ANI)
