Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 26 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that his government will implement the Chief Minister's Morning Breakfast Scheme from the next academic year, drawing direct inspiration from Tamil Nadu's welfare initiatives.
While attending an education-focused event in Chennai alongside Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, CM Reddy said Tamil Nadu's achievements in education and social welfare should serve as a model for the entire nation.
"This event will inspire Tamil Nadu youth for excellence in education, sports... Entire India should try to follow these 4 schemes... Among them, the Chief Minister's Morning Breakfast Scheme especially touches my heart. At this very stage, I want to announce that the Government of Telangana will be implementing this scheme from the next academic year. We are taking inspiration directly from Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin," said CM Reddy while speaking at an education event in Chennai.
He also spoke of the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between Tamil and Telugu communities, stating, "Tamil and Telugu people have shared a strong cultural bond for many centuries."
Highlighting the economic and developmental synergy between the two southern states, he noted, "The Hyderabad-Chennai corridor is fast emerging as an industrial and knowledge hub. Both Tamil Nadu and Telangana follow similar policies that uphold social justice. "
Reddy further recalled the legacy of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. "We have drawn inspiration from the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Inspired by his vision, we are working towards implementing 42% reservation for OBCs, and 27% for SCs and STs, bringing it together to 69% for SCs, STs, and OBCs."
He praised Tamil Nadu's efforts in inclusive education and welfare policies, saying, "The entire nation today looks up to Tamil Nadu's education model as a source of inspiration."
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Telangana Chief Minister directed state officials to remain on high alert following an India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning predicting heavy rainfall over the next two days.
According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), officials across all departments have been instructed to closely monitor flood-prone areas and take proactive measures to ensure public safety. The chief minister has also instructed district collectors to assess flood situations in areas prone to regular flooding and to relocate residents from low-lying regions to relief camps as a precautionary measure.
The Telangana CMO said that authorities have also been ordered to halt traffic on waterlogged roads and ensure the safety of causeways. The Electricity Department has been tasked with maintaining an uninterrupted power supply while addressing public safety concerns, including the removal of hanging wires during heavy rainfall. (ANI)
