New Delhi [India], February 17 (ANI): The Yamuna cleaning process began in New Delhi on Monday. Delhi's additional Chief Secretary Navin Kumar Choudhary stated that as per the directions of the higher authorities, Yamuna will be cleaned in the next three years before 2027. He stated that the work will be done in three to four steps and firstly the solid waste will be removed from the river bed.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Navin Kumar Choudhary said, "As per the directions by the highest level, we will clean Yamuna in the next 3 years before 2027. The work will be done in 3-4 steps. The first is to remove the solid waste from the river bed. That work is going better and to repair all the STPs. We will also ensure that no chemical is discharged in Yamuna without getting treated..."
While the cleaning work of Yamuna began in New Delhi, politics has also begun into the matter. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gopal Rai asked to impose president rule in the national capital if LG has to do everything. He also criticised the sudden involvement of LG in the Yamuna cleaning process and added that it should be the government who should be responsible for such works.
Gopal Rai said while speaking to media on Monday, "Such a large election was held in Delhi. If it is the Lt Governor who has to do everything, then they should have imposed President's Rule. People have elected a government. CM and government will carry out their responsibility."
"Which power group of BJP is active behind the sudden activeness of Lt Governor regarding this is something only they would be able to say." He strongly reiterated, "But this is the responsibility of the government, people of Delhi have elected them", he added. (ANI)
