"Why don’t you put that so-called INDIA itself in a full stop?" Assam CM Sarma targets Opposition

“India is India, but when you say INDIA is Indian National something then you have to put a full stop. I.N.D.I.A. Instead of saying so many full stops why not you put that so-called INDIA itself in a full stop? So let Congress party become full stop. That is the final solution,” Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 9 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday criticized the opposition parties' new bloc I.N.D.I.A. and said that instead of saying so many full stops, why don’t they put that so-called INDIA itself in a full stop?
“India is India, but when you say INDIA is Indian National something then you have to put a full stop. I.N.D.I.A. Instead of saying so many full stops why not you put that so-called INDIA itself in a full stop? So let Congress party become full stop. That is the final solution,” Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
He also said that the Congress party neglected all the principles during their 60 years' rule which Mahatma Gandhi had advocated during the freedom movement.
“Gandhi ji didn’t want a dynasty, but they (Congress) promoted dynasty. Gandhi ji worked against inequality, but they have made our society inequality so that they can nurture a particular people as their vote bank. Gandhi ji worked for Swadeshi, but they have only relied our economy or mortgage our economy to the foreign power during their 60 years of power,” Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
The Assam Chief Minister said that, when Mahatma Gandhi started the Quit India movement, it was not only to achieve an immediate political objective.
“It was Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom movement with a very high objective of political freedom, economic freedom and social equality. But during the regime of the Congress or 60 years when the Congress party was in power, they have neglected all the principles which Gandhi ji had advocated during the freedom movement,” Dr Sarma said.
He also said, "Today is Quit India day or Quit India movement or August Kranti Diwas, we must remember that we must work united so that dynasty Quit India, corruption, nepotism Quit India and untouchability Quit India.
Quit India movement creates or gives up us a broader meaning today and I am sure this year Quit India day people are celebrating with this new slogan that let dynasty Quit India,” Dr Sarma said.
Talking about Hindu Civilization the Assam Chief Minister said, "Bharat was a Hindu Civilization and today also Bharat is a Hindu Civilization and Bharat will remain as a Hindu Civilization till Sun and Moon exists in the world.
“The history of civilizational evolution is very clear and any student of A class, B class or C class will say that India was a Hindu civilization and India will remain as a Hindu civilization. I don’t think any academician dispute on that fact. Today in Assam, Muslim people are flourishing like anything. You go to our medical colleges and engineering colleges, you will see Muslim students," said the Chief Minister.
"Today, Muslims are getting most benefits of Prime Minister Awas Yojana, they are getting more benefits of all central government, state government schemes and they are in much better position then what was during the Congress period. The only problem is that we don’t appease anybody, we don’t appease Muslims for vote bank and that is the only difference. Everybody in Assam is living peacefully,” Dr Sarma said.
On the other hand, reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s proposed second leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Gujarat to Meghalaya, the Assam Chief Minister said that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has constructed good roads and he can travel on that roads. (ANI)
