"PM Modi is the Prime Minister of the country. If corruption is happening somewhere, law can do its job. Why can't PM initiate a probe as per the law if somebody is corrupt? Karnataka is not an ATM, BJP has made the whole country ATM," Alvi told ANI.

New Delhi [India], November 10 (ANI): Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Sunday hits back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his statement that Congress-ruled state have become ATM of the "shahi parivar", saying "Why can't PM initiate a probe as per the law."
Denying that Karnataka is an ATM of the Congress, Alvi said the BJP has made the "whole country ATM."
"PM Modi is the Prime Minister of the country. If corruption is happening somewhere, law can do its job. Why can't PM initiate a probe as per the law if somebody is corrupt? Karnataka is not an ATM, BJP has made the whole country ATM," Alvi told ANI.
Alvi futher asked for an introspection from the BJP before making allegations.
"All the rich people are BJP's ATM, from where is this wealth coming? In every district, BJP's 5-star officers are there, BJP should do an introspection before making such allegations," Alvi said.
Earlier in the day, senior Congress leader Udit Raj alleged that the BJP "treated the people of this country as an ATM for itself on November 8, 2016" refering to the demonetisation.
"They made the public of the country the ATM of BJP on 8th November 2016. Can there be a bigger ATM for the BJP than Electoral Bonds? Banks are being looted. Around Rs 25 lakhs of loan waiver is also their ATM. Adani and Ambani are their two biggest ATMs. Can they prove what they said about Karnataka? Does this behove of a Prime Minister to speak irresponsibly?" he said.
This came after Prime Minister Modi on Saturday alleged that the Congress government in Karnataka has looted Rs 700 crore from liquor sellers in the state for contesting Maharashtra assembly polls.
While addressing a rally in Maharashtra's Akola, the PM said, "Wherever Congress forms government, that state becomes an ATM for the Congress' royal family. These days, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana have become their ATMs."
"In the name of elections in Maharashtra, they have looted Rs 700 crore from liquor sellers in Karnataka. You can imagine the loot once they win the elections," the Prime Minister added.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)
