Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], April 24 (ANI): After a group of people from Odisha's Puri returned safely to Bhubaneswar from Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sambit Patra thanked J-K LG Manoj Sinha and said that the whole world is shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack.
"The whole world is shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack. Seven of our people who are part of our Panchayati Raj system were stranded in Pahalgam. Soon after the terror incident, they contacted us, and we got in touch with LG Manoj Sinha's office, which helped us arrange their travel to Jammu. From Jammu, they travelled to Delhi, and then to Bhubaneswar. Sadly, we lost one Prashant ji in the incident," Patra told ANI.
Earlier, Bandipora police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested four overground workers and claimed to have busted a module of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (Let), police said in a release on Thursday.
As per the statement, Bandipora Police had received credible information that some OGW affiliated with terrorist outfit Let have hatched a criminal conspiracy on the directions of their handlers and are seeking a chance to attack the Police and Security Forces and non-locals.
Meanwhile, the security forces have heightened alertness on the Jammu-Rajouri-Pooch Highway 144.
Rajouri Traffic Police officer Ahmed Din said, "We are checking local cars by checking their licenses. We are not allowing a loaded truck as it may create a jam. Traffic Police are there, the District Police are there, and the Army is also supporting us. 24/7 nakas are there."
Moreover, the Romeo Force of the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) continued their joint operation for the 10th consecutive day in the forest area of Lasana in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch to trace terrorists believed to be hiding in the region.
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the security forces had launched operations to eliminate terrorists across the Kashmir valley.
As many as 26 people were killed in the dastardly attack by terrorists on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
The attack, carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. The attack was one of the biggest terror attacks in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. (ANI)
