"Where is the cash in 'cash-for-query' row?" Congress leader

Nalgonda (Telangana) [India], November 9 (ANI): Amid the Ethics Committee meeting on the "cash-for-query" allegations against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra, senior Congress leader and Ethics Committee member Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there is no proof of cash transfer in the case.
"What 'cash for query' are you talking about? Where is the cash transfer? There is no proof. In any of the allegations or affidavits, there is no cash transfer," Reddy said speaking to ANI on Thursday.
Reddy also added that sharing of the "NIC login password" is a grey area as all the MPs get their questions put through their Personal Assistants.
"Secondly, sharing of NIC login password with other person is a grey area, all MPs get their questions put through their PAs," Reddy said.
"The way this exercise is being done is politically motivated to target Mahua Moitra," he added.
Giving out some tidbits of the case, the senior Congress MP said, "There was a gentleman who was a partner of Mahua Moitra and they have a difference over the custody of a dog. The gentleman puts up some allegations in a letter to Nishikanth Dubey."
"Another gentleman from Dubai gives an affidavit but doesn't want to come to India before the Ethics panel," he added.
Reddy said that Moitra had earlier raised allegations against Nishikanth Dubey over falsely stated education qualifications.
"The unseemly haste in which they are trying to take action against the MP is very unfortunate," Reddy said.
Meanwhile, six members of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee supported the report on the 'cash-for-query' charges against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, including Congress MP Preneet Kaur, while four members opposed it, panel chairman Vinod Sonkar said on Thursday.
The meeting of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, which is investigating the cash-for-query allegations against Moitra by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey was held on Thursday. (ANI)
