When scientist works with integrity, he plays the role of nation builder, says President Kovind

New Delhi [India], September 27 (ANI): Hailing science and technology, President Ram Nath Kovind drew an encouraging comparison between a scientist and a nation builder.

President Kovind said, "When a scientist works hard in the lab, with integrity and sincerity and with the larger dream of helping society, he or she is playing the role of nation builder."

Relating present to the past, in terms of technology usage to accomplish social development goals, President Kovind highlighted how our country exploited India's rich wealth of traditional knowledge and intellectual property and as well as is open to the latest discoveries.

"This aspiration remains important as ever as we strive to achieve a New India by 2022, when we complete 75 years as a free country," added President Kovind.

Talking of development goals, President pointed that gender parity adds meaning to them and thereby, accelerated steps are required to promote the participation of girl students and of women in science and technology.

President Kovind had graced the concluding ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in New Delhi on Tuesday, where, he emphasised the significance of CSIR.

President Kovind added, "It is very creditable that the staff of CSIR constitutes only about three to four per cent of India's scientific manpower, but contributes nearly 10 per cent of India's scientific output. This emphasises how important CSIR is to the nation building process." (ANI)
