West Bengal: JP Nadda to visit Kolkata during Durga Puja

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 20 (ANI): BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda will be on a one-day visit to West Bengal on Saturday, according to a press release from the BJP.
During his visit, he will pay a visit to three community puja pandals in Howrah and Kolkata to offer sacred worship to Goddess Durga, the release stated.
"His prayers will be dedicated to seeking blessings for a violence-free, corruption-free, and prosperous West Bengal. Additionally, he will engage in interactions with both the organisers and the attendees at these pandals," the release stated.
JP Nadda is scheduled to arrive at Kolkata Airport on Saturday at 11:00 am, where he will receive a warm and grand welcome from senior party leaders.
Following this reception, at 12:00 pm, he will proceed to the puja pandal located at Howrah Ground.
During his visit, he will spend time interacting with the organisers and devotees.
At 1:00 pm, Nadda will move to the community puja pandal situated at Shobhabazar Rajbari in Kolkata to seek blessings from Maa Durga.
After that, at 1:20 pm, he will visit the community puja pandal located in New Market, Kolkata.
The Hindu festival of Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is a yearly celebration that honours the Hindu goddess Durga and commemorates her victory over Mahishasur.
The Durga Puja festival is primarily celebrated in West Bengal, Kolkata, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tripura, and Assam.
Hindu mythology holds that the goddess comes to her earthly abode at this time to bless her devotees. The significance of Durga Puja goes beyond religion and is revered as the celebration of compassion, brotherhood, humanity, art, and culture.
From the reverberation of 'dhaak' and new clothes to delicious food, there remains a merry mood during these days. In other parts of the country, during the nine-day Navratri festival, devotees worship Maa Durga's nine incarnations in order to obtain her blessings. There is a goddess manifestation linked with each day of Navratri.
During these nine days, people observe ritualistic fasts, recite shlokas dedicated to each goddess, wear new clothing, offer bhog, and clean their homes. In their prayers, they ask the goddess for her favour in order to have prosperous, joyous, and fulfilled lives. (ANI)
