West Bengal: "Dhandha, not Dharna" BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar after Trinamool Congress withdraws protest

"It was a 'Dhanda'(business) not a 'Dharna' (protest). Now since the protest has been lifted, the business will also be stopped. The protest was just a distraction from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The people of Bengal know this," BJP leader Majumdar told ANI.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 10 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar on Tuesday took a dig at the Trinamool Congress' "dhanda" (business) after the latter withdrew its sit-in protest outside Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.
"It was a 'Dhanda' (business) not a 'Dharna' (protest). Now since the protest has been lifted, the business will also be stopped. The protest was just a distraction from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The people of Bengal know this," Majumdar told ANI.
The Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday withdrew their protest against the Central Government over the allocation of funds for MGNREGA and other social security schemes for West Bengal.
Banerjee said, "West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has promised to answer our questions in 24 hours. As per the advice of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and other senior leaders, we are withdrawing the protest."
Dismissing allegations made by Kolkata Mayor and West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim saying that the central agencies were being misused by the Centre, Majumdar said that people in West Bengal have seen the minister taking bribes infront of the camera.
"Ask Firhad Hakim, what demands BJP had from him. The people of West Bengal have seen him taking bribes in front of the camera. He has also been to jail," he said.
CBI conducted searches at the residence of Hakim in Kolkata in connection with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in recruitments made by the civic bodies in the state.
The central agency conducted searches at around 12 places in the State in a case related to alleged irregularities in municipal bodies' recruitment, officials said.
The multiple raids carried out by the CBI in places including Kolkata, Kanchrapara, Barrackpore, Halisahar, Dumdum, North Dum Dum, Krishnanagar, Taki and Kamarhati. The raids were conducted at the premises of certain individuals including public servants in the ongoing municipal bodies recruitment investigation. (ANI)
