Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 28 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her Diwali and Kali Puja greetings to the public on Monday.
Inaugurating the Kali Puja pandal in Janbazar, CM Mamata Banerjee emphasised that festivals should be celebrated with unity.
"I believe that when you celebrate any festival, it's not just your festival; we all celebrate together in unity," Mamata Banerjee said.
She further advised citizens to burst firecrackers safely and avoid any communal unrest.
"According to the administrative advisory, firecrackers should be used responsibly during Diwali. Please prioritise safety and enjoy the festival without inciting any communal discord. Avoid actions that could lead to unrest with firecrackers," Mamata Banerjee stated.
Diwali 2024 will be celebrated on October 31, marking one of the most significant festivals in India and worldwide. Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. As families prepare for the festivities, homes will be decorated with colourful rangoli patterns, illuminated with diyas and fairy lights.
The celebrations typically involve prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, sharing sweets and snacks, and exchanging gifts with loved ones. Fireworks will illuminate the night sky, creating a dazzling display that enhances the joyous atmosphere. Diwali 2024 promises to be a time of togetherness, reflection, and celebration, fostering a spirit of unity and hope for the coming year. (ANI)
