Former Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh to ANI

Shillong (Meghalaya) [India], Feb 12 (ANI): Former Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, who appeared for questioning at the CBI office here in connection with Saradha chit fund scam, has hinted that "hands of the influentials are too long" in this scam.
Calling himself a close "observer" in the case, Ghosh told ANI on Tuesday: "Now I shall wait what the CBI is going to do. Now I am only an observer. My experience has only made realise that the hands of the influentials are too long. So, I don't know what will happen tomorrow. I have recorded my statement in front of Mr Kumar (Rajeev) as I am cooperating with the investigation. I append some vindictive attitude from some influentials."
Gosh added that he has always cooperated with the probe in the chit fund case made by State Police or central forces and will continue to do so.
"I do not want to make any direct comment on the interrogation process. But I have been asked to attend the CBI office at Shillong. I have cooperated with the investigation and I had to join a confrontation session with Mr Rajeev Kumar. I can only say that I have always cooperated with the investigation made by the State Police or central forces and will continue to do so," he said.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and former Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh on Monday appeared for questioning at the CBI office here in connection with chit fund scam.
The CBI had grilled Kumar and Ghosh for nearly twelve hours on Sunday in connection with the Rose Valley and Saradha chit fund scams.
Ghosh was arrested on November 23, 2013, and sent to custody by the CBI on September 4, 2014, after it took over the investigation on the orders of the Supreme Court. In 2016, the Calcutta High Court granted interim bail to Ghosh against a bond of Rs 2 lakh.
The Kolkata Police chief, who has been accused of withholding some documents related to Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund cases, was questioned by the CBI in Shillong on Saturday as well.
On February 5, the Supreme Court had directed Kumar to appear before the central investigative agency in connection with the matter. It had also said that no coercive step should be taken against Kumar.
The top court's directive had come against the backdrop of a ‘dharna’ organised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata earlier this month in protest against the CBI’s attempt to arrest the top cop.
Kumar has been serving as Kolkata’s Police Commissioner since January 2016. He is said to have not responded to the earlier summons from the CBI in connection with the probe into the Rose Valley and Saradha ponzi scams. (ANI)
