Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Punjab) [India], May 30 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that after the formation of the INDIA bloc government in the Centre, they will provide 30 lakh government jobs to the youth of the country.
"We will give 30 lakh government jobs...first job is assured...this job will be the right of the youths, and if a person is asking for his right, the government will have to give," Rahul Gandhi said addressing a public meeting in Nawanshahr.
Rahul Gandhi asserted that after June 5, the money will be transferred to the bank accounts of poor women if the INDIA bloc wins the Lok Sabha elections.
"The government will have to provide Rs Rs 8,500 per month and Rs 1 lakh for year...if Adani and Ambani get money, it is said that development happens, but when poor people get the money, it is said that their habits are being spoiled," he said.
Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Modi of making 22 people in the country "billionaires."
"PM Narendra Modi has made 22 people of the country billionaires. We will make crores of lakhpatis in the country. The MNREGA daily wage will be increased to Rs 400. Asha, mid-day meal, and Anganwadi workers will be given higher salaries, and contract labour will be abolished," he said.
The Congress leader asserted that the ongoing Lok Sabha elections are to save the Constitution.
"If we look at the thinking of Bhagat Singh ji, it has also been represented in the Constitution. This is an election to save the Constitution. BJP leaders have clearly said that if they win the elections, they will destroy the Constitution. Today, BJP-RSS people are attacking it, so our mission is to protect the Constitution," he said.
The Congress leader further said they will end the 50 percent cap on reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.
"BJP people have clearly said that they will end reservations. But as soon as the INDIA bloc government comes, we will remove the 50 per cent limit on reservations. Along with this, we will conduct a caste census and present the truth before the country," he asserted.
In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
