New Delhi [India], October 13 (ANI): Weight loss drugs can lead to brain-related issues, claimed Indian-American author and integrative medicine pioneer Dr Deepak Chopra. He further claimed that such drugs create a false sense of satiety.
"Anything that affects metabolism that drastically, and these weight loss drugs do that biologically, it creates a false sense of satiety, and it's almost like doing surgery to a patient, very dramatic surgery," he said.
In an exclusive interview, Dr Deepak explained how anything that interferes with metabolism in such a dramatic way can affect the mind, "People used to have gastric bypass and now drugs to achieve the same process. So, anything that interferes with metabolism in such a dramatic way can affect the mind because whatever happens, the body affects the mind and whatever happens in the mind affects the body. They are interrelated. We are now beginning to see some early signs of depression, suicidal ideation doesn't happen to everyone, but it's a risk. Having said that, these drugs do have a role in people who have a crisis or severe metabolic disease or diabetes and so on..."
He also said claimed that celebrities use these drugs to look better. People follow them and use such drugs. People who have been identified as using such drugs have been getting affected, he claimed.
"Entertainment celebrities are using such drugs and people who want to be like them, it's aggravating their disorders too," he added. (ANI)
