Weather alert: IMD predicts rainy Durga Puja in West Bengal

The India Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rain and thundershowers across West Bengal during the Durga Puja celebrations from October 5 to 13.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 3 (ANI): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday released a special bulletin regarding the weather forecast for the Durga Puja festival in West Bengal.
"We have issued a special date-wise weather forecast for Durga Puja," said Somnath Dutta, Head of the Eastern Region Meteorological Department. According to the bulletin, there are expectations of light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the festival period.
For South Bengal, on October 5, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur across all districts. From October 6 to October 9, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at a few places in all districts. From October 10 to October 13, light rain and thundershowers may occur in a few places as well, IMD said.
In Kolkata, the forecast indicates a generally cloudy sky on October 5, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers very likely. On October 6, the city of joy will likely experience a cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers. From October 7 to October 9, a partly cloudy sky is expected, along with light rain and thundershowers in some areas. From October 10 to October 13, as per IMD, the trend of partly cloudy skies with light rain and thundershowers may continue in some regions.
In North Bengal, on October 5, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places across all districts, with heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) likely in one or two areas of Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and South Dinajpur.
On October 6, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at a few places in all districts. IMD added that the rain is expected to continue in various districts, particularly in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, and Alipurduar, from October 7 to October 9.
Further, the meteorological department said that the next weather update will be provided on October 7.(ANI)
