Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 14 (ANI): The government will take "remedial measures' to solve traffic problems in the city, said Andhra Pradesh Minister Gudivada Amarnath while attending the 'Stakeholders Consultation Meeting for Easing Traffic and Improving Road Connectivity' held here.
State Information Technology (IT) Minister Gudivada Amarnath, along with former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy attended the meeting held here on Friday.
"The city has developed a lot around the Visakhapatnam port, besides this, there are steel plants, HPCL, dockyards, BHEL, and pharma sectors in the city. But due to this, traffic problems have increased in Visakhapatnam, and the problem has also increased due to cargo transportation to Visakhapatnam port and many companies," Minister Amarnath said.
"We will take remedial measures to solve traffic problems in the city," he added.
The former chairman of TTD, said Visakhapatnam has developed a lot in terms of industry and tourism. In accordance with that, measures have been taken to ease the traffic problem without causing any inconvenience to ordinary citizens and, at the same time, without causing any inconvenience to cargo vehicles.
"The proposals for the construction of 12 ply overbridges in Visakha district have been discussed with the central government," Reddy said.
Until then, other routes will be established at 12 junctions to prevent the traffic problem, he added.
Similarly, steps are being taken for cargo truck parking and private bus parking terminals, he said.
Visakhapatnam District Collector Dr A Mallikharjuna, Anakapalli District Collector P Ravi Shubhas, Visakha City Police Commissioner A Ravi Shankar, Municipal Commissioner Syam Saikanth Verma, Anakapalli S P Murali Krishna, Port Vice Chairman Durgesh Kumar Dubey, CII Chairman P Lal Krishna, CII Vice Chairman Grandi Rajesh, CII Convener Samba Siva Rao, and many industrialists participated in the meeting.
