Munger (Bihar) [India], November 25 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday again put pressure on the Central government to give special status to Bihar and informed that a campaign will be launched in the state accordingly.
"We have been demanding from the Central Government for a long time to give special state status to Bihar. If Bihar gets the status of a special state, then poverty will end in two years. Bihar is a backward state in terms of development, there are poor people in every caste. In such a situation, we will launch a campaign to get special status. You all are in favour of this, right?" Nitish Kumar said after he laid the foundation stone of Munger Medical College cum Hospital at Mangra Pokhar of Bank Panchayat.
He also highlighted that the caste census in Bihar revealed the economic condition of people of all classes.
"We went to the Central govt with a demand that there should be a caste-based census in the country but they did not listen to us. So, in Bihar, we went ahead and got it done with 9 other parties. Once we got it done, they said that only the Centre could conduct a census. We clarified that we have only done a survey. After the report was out, we said that we would record the economic condition of each and every family, whether it is the upper caste, backward class or extremely backward class, scheduled caste, tribe or any religion...".
"Caste-based census took place in Bihar. This revealed the economic condition of people of all classes. Its report was also published. On the basis of this, the scope of reservation in Bihar was increased to 75 percent. Now on the basis of this, we are also helping people," CM Nitish added.
Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav who was also present at the programme said that an all-round development is taking place under the Grand-Alliance government in Bihar.
"Justice is being done to everyone here. We will bring the people from the last rung of society into the mainstream and bring development to them. It is the effort of our government to fill the stomach of every hungry person and to provide land to the landless. Therefore, a caste census was conducted. Through this, it was announced to increase the reservation of backward, extremely backward, Dalit, ST. Reservation is the right of the poor, hence it was recommended to the Central Government to include it in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. It is our effort to ensure that everyone gets economic justice in this government of social justice," Tejashwi Yadav said.
Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit said that 630 beds will be constructed in the Government Medical College, which is under the tender process.
MLA Ajay Kumar Singh, Rajiv Kumar Singh, former minister Shailesh Kumar, JDU District President Nachiketa Mandal, State Secretary Saurabh Nidhi along with others were present in the program. (ANI)
