Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 18 (ANI): Peoples Democratic Party candidate Gulzar Ahmad Dar said on Wednesday that his agenda is to provide employment to the youth and that he is hopeful for winning the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
The PDP candidate from Damhal Hanji Pora Assembly constituency said that he is receiving a lot of support from the public and that he will work for the development of the region to provide employment.
"I am hopeful that I will win the elections, as I am getting huge support from the public, I went to around 30 to 40 polling stations, and the response of the people is quite good," he said.
He further said that he is happy with Jamaat-e-islami (JEI) contesting the elections, and that the party was always on the side of democracy.
"The decision of Jamaat-e-Islami contesting the elections is a good thing, they were always democrats. In 1996, when there was a time when Sheikh Abdullah was showing us the salt of Pakistan, and everything else, then also they (JEI) were taking part in elections, they have always taken the side of democracy. But it was unlucky that when the elections of 1987 took place, they were pushed around and they were forced to take up arms, otherwise they were always Democrats," said the PDP candidate.
Speaking on the alliance of Congress-NC for the elections and the influence of both the parties in the area, he said, "Here in my area there is no influence of Congress, with NC I can agree there is some influence . With Congress, there might be little but not much, so it won't affect in my area."
He further mentioned the manifesto of PDF focusses on development, employment, and propping up a good health system, and he will work for the same if he gets elected from Damhal Hanji Pora.
"Whoever gets elected, whether an Assembly member, sarpanch (village head), or an MP their work is to work for the development of their region. Our region focused on making good roads, giving drinking water, giving electricity, and also putting up a good health system. Also, we educate our children by getting a loan, but after that there is no opportunity for employment for them, God has given us a lot of beauty in the area, it not less beautiful than any other area but every leader which has been made from here, they did not give the benefits of the beauty of this to the people living here," he added.
