Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 14 (ANI): Amid the ongoing protests by the students against the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC), the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, Ravindra Kumar Mandar said that the protesting students are not ready to listen and have rejected the requests from the administration and the Commission to hold talks in order to find solutions to their problems
DM Mandar added that the Commission and its delegation are also ready to communicate with the students but they are not ready to communicate.
"We tried to speak to the protesting students. We requested them to make a delegation and we will make them speak to the commission so that we can find a solution. Protesting students are not ready to listen and they rejected it. We have repeatedly tried speaking to them, as the Commission and its delegation are also ready to communicate but they rejected it and are not ready to communicate," Prayagraj DM said.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday assured support to protesting UP Public Service Commission aspirants, stating that the government is taking their demands seriously and has instructed officials to find a solution.
Speaking to ANI, Maurya said, "The government is taking the demands of the aspirants seriously... BJP stands with the students and youth. Instructions have been given to the officials to talk to the students and find a proper solution."
Students preparing for the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Wednesday held a candlelight march, marking the third consecutive day of protests outside the UPPSC building in Prayagraj.
The candidates are demanding that the UPPSC exams, specifically the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) and Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exams, be conducted in a single shift, as was previously done. They believe this will make the process fairer and more manageable.
The protests began after UPPSC announced that the RO-ARO exams would be held over two days in multiple shifts. (ANI)
