Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 23 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday expressed joy at the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 lander module on the moon’s South Pole and said that the country was filled with happiness and joy.
“We all are proud. The country is filled with happiness and joy. A new India has emerged under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chandrayaan has now landed on the moon. We all are happy,” CM Chouhan told ANI.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also expressed pleasure and said that today is a historic day for India
“Today is a historic day for India. Chandrayaan-3 has successfully landed on the moon’s South Pole, for this our ISRO scientists deserve congratulations. The 140 crore citizens of the nation also deserve congratulations. On this occasion, I also congratulate our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role behind the success of this campaign,” Tomar said.
It was a giant leap for India on Wednesday evening, as the Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the moon’s South Pole. It brought an end to the disappointment over the crash landing of the Chandrayaan-2, four years ago.
As the Vikram lander carrying the Pragyaan rover in its belly touched down on the lunar surface, it marked a giant leap in India’s spacefaring journey providing a well-deserved finale to ISRO’s long years of toil.
This makes India the fourth country – after the US, China, and Russia – to have successfully landed on the moon’s surface; it has earned a place in record books as the first to touchdown on the south side of Earth’s only natural satellite.
Special screenings of the soft landing were organised across the country, including schools, science centres, and public institutions. ISRO made the live action available on the ISRO website, its YouTube channel, Facebook, and public broadcaster DD National TV.
The spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota on July 14. (ANI)
