Water storage level up by 4% in 91 major reservoirs

New Delhi [India], Sept 07 (ANI): The water storage level of 91 major reservoirs in India have gone up by four per cent in the last one week, according to data provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The Central Water Commission monitors these reservoirs.

New Delhi [India], Sept 07 (ANI): The water storage level of 91 major reservoirs in India have gone up by four per cent in the last one week, according to data provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The Central Water Commission monitors these reservoirs.
The water storage level in these reservoirs was at 69 per cent last week (up to August 30). It touched 119.042 BCM, which is 73 per cent, this week (ending on September 6). The water storage level in this week was 130 per cent of the storage during the corresponding period last year and 114 per cent of the storage during the last ten years.
The total storage capacity of these 91 reservoirs is 161.993 BCM, which is about 63 per cent of the total storage capacity of 257.812 BCM, which is estimated to have been created in the country. 37 reservoirs out of these 91 have hydropower benefit with installed capacity of more than 60 MW. (ANI)
