Dausa (Rajasthan) [India], October 20 (ANI): Talking about the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said on Friday priority will be given to Dausa district and water will first come here.
Gehlot said Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat could have talked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the delay in Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project as he is from Rajasthan.
The ERCP is an ambitious project that was first proposed by the previous BJP government in Rajasthan to meet the drinking water and irrigation needs of 13 districts: Jaipur, Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Tonk, Dausa, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Dholpur.
"We are giving priority to Dausa district. The water will come first in Dausa. Projects of nearly Rs 14,000 crores have been approved. 53 embankments were announced and work in going on all of them. The Jal Shakti minister is from Rajasthan. He could have talked to him (to the Prime Minister) about the project," Gehlot told reporters in Dausa.
Meanwhile, addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan's Dausa, Priyanka Gandhi said that the Congress government in Rajasthan has tried to make the lives of people easier. "What hopes do you have from the government? You hope to solve problems in your life, to stand with you in struggles in your life, to get facilities for your agriculture work... So that your future and your children's future are bright... To fulfil this hope, there is a need for understanding. A true leader looks forward, towards the future and not in the past. The Congress government in your state (Rajasthan) has tried to make your life journey easier," she said.
The Congress General Secretary also underscored that the Rajasthan Congress has worked to ease the lives of people of Rajasthan.
Election Commission has said that voting for Rajasthan assembly polls will be held on November 25. The counting of votes for the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly, along with those for four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3. (ANI)
