"Want to take everyone to see Sheesh Mahal": BJP candidate Parvesh Verma

"I want to take all the people of Delhi to see Sheesh Mahal. I am writing a letter to CM Atishi to open the doors of Sheesh Mahal because the people of Delhi want to see what happened to the tax they paid," he told reporters on Saturday.

New Delhi [India], January 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's New Delhi assembly seat candidate, Parvesh Verma challenged Chief Minister Atishi to open the doors of 'Sheesh Mahal', official residence of the CM, to the public, saying that the people of Delhi want to see what happened to the tax they have paid.
"I want to take all the people of Delhi to see Sheesh Mahal. I am writing a letter to CM Atishi to open the doors of Sheesh Mahal because the people of Delhi want to see what happened to the tax they paid," Verma told reporters on Saturday.
He further claimed that Rs 100 crore had been spent on the residence to put up various amenities.
"People want to see how their chief minister was, and how they live," Verma added.
Hitting out at his electoral rival, Arvind Kejriwal he hoped that AAP's national convenor 'does not run away from the New Delhi seat.'
"I want to work for the people of Delhi, and my workers are ready... I just hope Arvind Kejriwal doesn't run away from the New Delhi seat, because the people here have elected him three times so he has to be accountable for his work and whatever the decision of the people will be. I have been asking the people here to tell me about any kind of work being done here, but in the 11 years, they can't even tell 11 things, or even 2," the BJP candidate added.
Verma, a former MP and son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, will be facing former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress' Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit, in a three-cornered contest in the upcoming Delhi assembly election.
The Election Commission has yet to announce the dates for the polls.
Earlier today, Verma also thanked his party's leadership, and criticised Kejriwal for not providing oxygen during Covid, keeping the Yamuna polluted and not curbing air pollution.
"I thank my party's top leadership... I hope that the trust that the party has shown in me, I'll live up to it... When Delhi was facing Covid, when they needed Oxygen, Arvind Kejriwal Ji was distributing a 'free bottle on every bottle'... There are many works in Delhi - like cleaning Yamuna, curbing pollution... when the BJP will form the govt, we will do all these works..."," he told ANI.
The assembly elections in Delhi are likely to be held in February 2025.
Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 successive years, has performed poorly in the past two assembly polls, failing to win any seat.
AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in the 2020 assembly elections and BJP secured eight seats. (ANI)
