Want to develop tourism in Arunachal Pradesh: PM Modi

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) [India] Feb. 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Centre wants to develop tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.

Addressing a public rally here, Prime Minister Modi said, "We want to improve tourism in Arunachal. I will tell people to come to Arunachal Pradesh for their meetings and conferences. Lot of people does it in Delhi and Mumbai. I will tell them to explore the land of Arunachal Pradesh," Prime Minister Modi said.

He also underlined the importance of running governance from all parts of the country.

"Why should meetings only be held in the national capital? We must go to all states and that is why I came to Shillong for a Northeastern Council meeting and an important meeting related to agriculture was held in Sikkim," Prime Minister Modi said.

Talking about his visit to the state, Prime Minister Modi said, "My visit to Arunachal Pradesh is related to three key projects in the state. The secretariat is already functional and this was a good step taken by the state government. The new secretariat will help the people of Arunachal Pradesh."

He added: "Most of the key departments are based in the new secretariat. This makes it easier for people coming from distant villages because they do not need to move from one place to another. Everything is in one place only. Coordination and convenience are enhanced."

Talking about his government's initiatives, Prime Minister said, "We have started a new culture in India that you should not wait for a leader for any infrastructure project. If it has been completed, please start using it. We will come someday to inaugurate it."

He also underlined the importance of working together.

"Government cannot work in different direction. All have to work together for the country. If there is good co-ordination then work goes on well. Decision-making process as well as delivery system will be easier," Prime Minister Modi said.

He also said that he has directed his government's ministers to visit northeast regularly.

"I can tell you with great pride that ministers and officials from the Centre are visiting the Northeast very regularly as I have told them there should not be any week wherein any minister is not visiting any part of northeast," Prime Minister Modi said. (ANI)
