Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Nov 15 (ANI): Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu urged civil service officers to be flexible and adaptable, and strive to reform outdated government practices.
Interacting with the civil service officers of 93rd Foundation Course at the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute here on Wednesday, the Vice President said that civil service officers have the most important role of transforming "Swarajya" to "Surajya".
"The Civil Service Officers should be flexible, adaptable, open and dynamic and must be agile and proactive. They should forever remain connected to the pulse of the common man who they are expected to serve. Hopes and aspirations of the country rest upon the able shoulders of civil servants," the Vice President said.
While advising officers to not remain static and let complacency set in, Naidu stressed upon the need to adopt corruption free, citizen-centric and business-friendly governance, so that the policy of the government reaches every single citizen of the country.
Recalling the teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Vice President said the former believed that the idea of united India would be incomplete without a civil service that is independent.
He also said that leaders like the first Prime Minister of independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, left a lasting legacy for every Indian.
"Pandit Nehru and the iconic leaders who fought for our freedom envisaged a resurgent India. They saw India as Bharat Mata and true nationalism as the collective well being of the entire population," he added.
Naidu called upon all the civil services officers to work together in harmony and to extend support to each other for the welfare of the nation.
He further asked them to adopt 'empathy', efficiency', 'impartiality' and 'incorruptibility' as guiding principles to emerge as effective, responsive administrators. He even called on officers to act as ambassadors of progressive thought processes. (ANI)
