Violence erupts during Saraswati idol immersion procession in Patna, situation under control

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday attended a blood donation camp organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha in Patna on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday as part of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'.

A day ahead of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, addressed by ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki.

"You must have noticed that over 45 lakh people in Bihar are suffering due to devastating floods; they have no food or clean water, and lives are being lost. Yet the government has made no proper arrangements for them. Instead, on the Prime Minister's birthday, a staggering 100 crore rupees, drawn from the state's already depleted treasury, is being squandered merely on lighting lamps," Yadav told reporters.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday warned that it may stop the counting of votes and declaration of Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election results if the authorities fail to take effective action against alleged violence, hooliganism and other violations during the election process.

Tension prevailed in Karnataka's Bhatkal after alleged stone-pelting incidents were reported during a Ganesh immersion procession on Wednesday night, with police registering two FIRs based on complaints from both sides.
