Vibrant Gujarat: Pre-Summit on 'Holistic Healthcare: Good Health and Well-Being for All' to be held on January 5

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], January 3 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, a pre-summit on 'Holistic Healthcare: Good Health and Well-Being for All', is being organised by the Health & Family Welfare Department on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Gandhinagar.
The event will witness participation from senior government officials, industry experts, and various stakeholders. The event will focus on promoting the pharmaceuticals & medical devices sector, leveraging technology to transform healthcare and promoting holistic healthcare.
The event will have three plenary sessions, the first being the Plenary session on Promoting Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Sector. It will bring together, industry experts to deliberate on API and Production Linked Incentive schemes, Bulk Drug & Medical Devices Park and strategies to promote the sectors and augment the healthcare ecosystem.
The second plenary session, on technology Transforming Healthcare, will deliberate on the government's initiatives at leveraging technology for strengthening healthcare as well as the various innovations and technological developments improving the healthcare.
The third plenary session will be on Promoting Holistic Healthcare and will bring global healthcare specialists and AYUSH experts to discuss the paradigm shift towards holistic healthcare.
Over the past two decades, during the journey of Vibrant Gujarat since 2003, the state has witnessed a 30% increase in the public healthcare infrastructure. This strong system is further augmented by a very robust private medical and healthcare sector.
Specialist care in the public sector has improved by leaps and bounds with the setting up of 40 medical college hospitals (from 12 in 2003), 7050 seats (from 1525), a 25-fold increase in the Dialysis units and 33 Day Care Chemotherapy centers (from 0). The state has seen a reduction of over 60% in Infant and Maternal mortality rates.
Alongside these, since 2003, the state has also witnessed a 2.5-fold increase in Pharmaceutical manufacturing and sales units and a 9-fold increase in USFDA-approved units leading to a 3-fold increase in the share of pharma export businesses in Gujarat. With an estimated INR 1,46,606 crore turnover, an 8.4-fold increase over 2003 estimates, the state is aptly recognized as the Pharma capital of the nation.
The state of Gujarat not only has healthcare services of international standards but also robust allied sectors viz. AYUSH and wellness, thriving pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical devices sectors, rehabilitation services, and a growing focus on medical R&D. All these together ensure that the healthcare ecosystem is holistic and complete. (ANI)
