Bharat Mata temple

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Aug 2 (ANI): A story of a unique 'Bharat Mata' temple has come to the fore from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, displaying the map of undivided India.
Built by freedom fighter Shiv Prasad Gupta between 1918-1924, the temple has Bharat Mata on display instead of deities.
After the completion of the temple in 1924, it was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936.
"Temples usually show deities but this temple shows Bharat Mata. Completed in 1924, it was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936," Caretaker of the temple, Raju Singh told ANI.
"We are fortunate to see every day how large India was earlier. Foreign tourists always come here when they visit Varanasi," he added.
The map has been carved out of 762 blocks of Makrana marble, showing Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar and Bangladesh as part of India.(ANI)
