Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 20 (ANI): Uttarakhand's Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, led a crucial meeting regarding the requirement and assessment of machines, equipment and plants under the requirements of the judicial process for the effective implementation of new criminal laws.
Officials of the prosecution, justice department and prison department, including senior police officers, also participated in the meeting.
DGP Abhinav Kumar, while discussing various subjects and giving directions, said that for the effective implementation of new criminal laws, a proposal should be prepared to provide video conferencing systems to all the police stations and equipment such as tablets, body-worn cameras, mobile crime kits, fingerprint scanners, etc., to all the officers from the inspector level to the head constable level.
It should also be ensured that all the resources are optimally used, DGP directed the officials.
DGP Abhinav Kumar decided to provide one mobile forensic van to each district and a mobile crime kit with a bike at the police station level for inspection of the crime scene.
Earlier, a senior Home Ministry official said on Wednesday that the implementation of three new criminal laws, integrating the use of technology to seamlessly aid in criminal justice, bringing amendments to the Disaster Management Act, and a plan to eradicate Left Wing extremism by March 2026--the first hundred days of the Modi 3.0 government have been filled with various achievements.
The Home Ministry has also updated the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) application to incorporate the new criminal laws.
"Software patches have been designed and deployed in ICJS Pillar Applications to incorporate the new criminal laws. The key changes in Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), e-Prisons, e-Forensics, and e-Prosecution are the use of audio-video electronic means and electronic communication, among others," the official said.
The Ministry also highlighted the use of mobile and web applications 'NCRB SANKALAN' and e-Shakshya, which are meant to aid users in navigating the new criminal laws.
"'NCRB SANKALAN of Criminal Laws,' has been designed to help users navigate the new criminal laws and, to date, has been downloaded approximately 5.85 lakh times. Also, the CCTNSS Technical Support Call Centre with a helpline number has been set up by the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) to assist States and Union Territories.
