Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inspects rescue and relief operations in Tehri

Tehri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) [India], August 22 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday arrived at the Ghutthu-Panja-Devling area of Tehri district and conducted a field inspection on the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the areas affected by heavy rains and disaster.
CM Dhami met the disaster-affected family of Durga Devi in Malethi and assured her of all possible help.
Speaking about the damages, Dhami said that there has been a lot of damage due to heavy cloudbursts in Ghutthu and several houses and cattle came under the grip of the disaster.
Further, he directed the District Administration to provide immediate assistance to the disaster-affected, assess the disaster damage in disaster-prone areas and immediately carry out the reconstruction work damaged by the disaster.
Additionally, he said that a lack of funds for reconstruction work will not be allowed to come in the way, and efforts will be made to compensate for the loss caused by the disaster as soon as possible.
On the complaint of the villagers, the Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate to get the damage caused to the houses by Ghutthu Hydro Power re-examined.
District Magistrate Mayur Dixit informed that 29 buildings were damaged in the Ghutthu area under Tehsil Ghansali due to heavy rains on the night of August 21, in which six buildings were completely damaged and 23 buildings were partially damaged.
A compensation of more than 10 lakhs has also been given to 9 damaged houses for gratuitous house damage as per the rules.
Additionally, 20 families who resided in the partially damaged buildings were kept in disaster relief camps for their safety and necessary arrangements are being made.
The CM further said that after situations return to normalcy, if there is a need for displacement of villages, necessary action and rented houses would be made available as per rules.
Further, he added that 17 animals were lost due to the disaster, for which necessary action was being taken.
24 drinking water lines were also damaged due to the cloudburst. Additionally, other assets like electrical lines, roads, culverts, etc. also suffered severe damage.
The agricultural damage of 450 families has been assessed. The road connectivity of three to four villages has been cut off for which the restoration process is underway.
The District Magistrate informed that due to the disaster, many villages including Malethi, Chandla, Gavana Malla, Gavana Talla, Kailbagi, Devlang, Jogiana, Gangeri, Chakragaon, Maletha, Ranidhang, Panja, Mendu Sindhwal, Sankri, Lom, Samangaon, Miswali, Bhatgaon, Ankwan village, Raitgaon, Bhelunta etc. have suffered extensive damages.
