Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 11 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday chaired a meeting with top officials to review preparations for the monsoon season at the state secretariat.
Speaking to ANI, Uttarakhand CM Dhami said, "Monsoon has always been challenging for us because we need to face disaster in some or the other form. We need to identify blocked drains, areas where garbage accumulates, and obstructed roads To review preparedness and administration stays in action mode the meeting has been convened".
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during the review meeting of disaster management and other works before the upcoming monsoon in the Secretariat, directed the officials to remain on alert mode and complete all the works related to disaster management within the stipulated time period.
He said that Almora district is very sensitive in terms of disaster, so SDRF team should be deployed there especially during the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister said that being a hilly state, the monsoon season is like a challenge for us, so all preparations should be completed within the stipulated time to deal with heavy rains and disaster. He said that the places where more disaster had occurred last year should be identified and special arrangements should be made to deal with the disaster there.
Dhami directed the officials to ensure the cleaning of drains, irrigation canals and canals before June 15.
If any work related to waterlogging is to be done in the Municipal Corporation and Municipality areas, then they should also be completed on time.
CM said that special vigilance should be exercised in disaster and landslide-prone areas. JCBs should be deployed at various places to open closed roads. All the District Magistrates should ensure that funds are released as soon as possible for the works to be done under the disaster fund.
CM Dhami instructed the officials that arrangements should be made to airlift pregnant women in hilly areas if required.
To prevent waterborne diseases, the Health Department was also instructed to spray medicines from time to time and ensure that standards are followed. (ANI)
