Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], May 20 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a review meeting on Monday at the Secretariat to discuss the arrangements for drinking water and electricity supply for Char Dham Yatra-2024.
During the meeting, CM Dhami directed the officials to stop offline registration until May 31. He also directed them to issue an advisory for tour operators to control the number of devotees.
The Chief Minister mentioned that for the convenience of all tourists coming to Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra without registration, the Police-Tourism Department should prepare a diversion plan for other religious and spiritual tourist places in the state in mutual coordination, besides Char Dham.

The Chief Minister emphasised that security personnel deployed on duty in Char Dham should treat the devotees with respect. He also directed the officials to ensure the supply of drinking water and electricity along the Yatra route and Char Dham.
The Char Dham Yatra started on May 10 this year. The Hindu pilgrimage Char Dham circuit consists of four sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The River Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri Glacier in Uttarakhand. Pilgrimage season peaks in Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra annually during the summers.
On Sunday, a huge number of devotees thronged Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams for darshan.
According to information received, till 2 pm on Sunday, around 10,000 devotees had darshan at Gangotri Dham and about 28,000 pilgrims from various places were moving towards Gangotri Dham.
At Yamunotri Dham also, till 2 pm on Sunday, 8,500 people had darshan and about 20,000 people were moving forward on the Yamunotri route from various stops.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned the 'Pirul Lao, Paise Pao' campaign that is being promoted in the state. He also highlighted that the forest fire has been largely controlled and that efforts are underway to completely extinguish it as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister launched the Pirul Lao-Paise Pao campaign in the Rudraprayag district on May 8, in light of the forest fire situations across the state.
Uttarakhand starts experiencing forest fires in mid-February when the trees shed dry leaves and the soil loses moisture due to a temperature rise, and this continues till mid-June.
"Pirul" is a local term in Uttarakhand for products made from pine needles of Pine Trees, also locally called Chid trees. (ANI)
