Dehradun Uttarakhand [India], September 28 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the renaming of several states and centrally-funded schemes to make them simpler and more accessible for villagers, a release by the Chief Minister's Office stated.
As part of the new directives, the Rural Enterprise Velocity Vriddhi Project has been renamed "Gramothan Yojana." The aim of this scheme is to improve the livelihoods of rural poor families by connecting them with entrepreneurship opportunities.
Additionally, the Rural Business Incubator Scheme has been renamed "Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana." This scheme offers financial assistance and training to rural entrepreneurs.
The objective of 'Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana' is to create more opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship, particularly for the youth and women in rural areas. Both individual beneficiaries and community-based organisations will benefit from this initiative, which is expected to strengthen the rural economy and provide support for sustainable livelihoods. The changes are part of the government's efforts to promote rural development and economic growth, the release said.
Earlier on Friday, CM Dhami assured the people of the state that the BJP government will address the land law issue. He stated, "Just as our government has resolved various long-standing cases from March 2021 till now, in the same way, I assure the people of Uttarakhand that our government will also resolve the issue of land law."
Speaking at the Media Centre in the Secretariat, CM Dhami stressed on the need for a comprehensive land law suited to Uttarakhand's geographical conditions in the next budget session. He noted that currently, anyone can buy 250 square metres of land outside municipal areas without permission. However, he mentioned that some individuals are violating this rule by purchasing land under different names within the same family.
The Chief Minister added that strict action will be taken against those misusing land permits for purposes like tourism and industry but not using the land accordingly. The Chief Minister plans to review changes made to land purchase rules in 2017, which he described as not positive. (ANI)
