Lansdowne (Uttarakhand) [India], October 31 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated Diwali by reaching among the soldiers of Garhwal Rifles and their families in Lansdowne, Pauri. On this occasion, the CM expressed his gratitude towards the dedication of the brave soldiers and saluted their bravery and sacrifice.
He congratulated the soldiers on Diwali while participating in the program organized at Lansdowne Cantonment on Thursday. On this occasion, he paid tribute to the fallen soldiers by offering a wreath at the War Memorial.
The Chief Minister said that the role of the soldiers and their families dedicated day and night in the service of the nation is highly commendable. He said that being a soldier's son, reaching among the soldiers and celebrating the festival of Deepawali was an unforgettable moment for him.
CM Dhami said, "Our soldiers have always shown unparalleled courage and sacrifice to protect the country. Our government is committed to the welfare of the soldiers and their families."
He said that the soldiers stay away from home and are deployed in the security of the country. In such a situation, it is a matter of good fortune to come among them and celebrate the festival of Diwali. During this, he also met soldiers, brave women and children.
Addressing the army officers, soldiers and their families, the Chief Minister said, "I am feeling very proud to be among you all on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. It is said that the festival happens only where there is family. Everyone celebrates the festival together. Staying away from your family on the day of the festival is in itself the culmination of duty."
He said that seeing the enthusiasm of the soldiers, new energy was flowing inside him.
"If the people of the whole country are celebrating Diwali, they are definitely safe, then it is because of our soldiers, who are deployed on the country's border 24 hours a day. Despite being away from your family on this important festival, there is no lack in your enthusiasm. I am extremely happy to be among the soldiers. Seeing the enthusiasm of all of you, new energy is also flowing inside me," he said.
The Chief Minister said that a provision has been made to increase the amount of Rs 10 lakh given to the families of the deceased soldiers of Uttarakhand to Rs 50 lakh. He said that this time Diwali is very special because for 500 years people were waiting for Lord Ram to return to his home.
The Chief Minister said, "Earlier we used to buy weapons in large numbers from abroad, but today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is becoming self-reliant and today more than 200 military equipment are being prepared in our own country. Which is used by the Indian Army."
CM Dhami met Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan and extended his heartfelt wishes and greetings on Diwali.
Brig. Vinod Singh Negi said that many welfare schemes of the state have been made keeping in mind the interests of the soldiers. For this, he also expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister. Thanking the state government, he said that the amount given by the government to the dependents of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
