Uttarakhand: Chief Electoral Officer conducts meeting over provision of essential services for LS polls

The Chief Electoral Officer directed in the meeting that medical staff should be present in all hospitals on the day of polling till the end of polling.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], April 18 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer Dr BVRCC Purushottam held a meeting with all the departments and agencies at the secretariat in connection to the provision of essential services for the Lok Sabha elections.
According to information from the Election Office, "The Chief Electoral Officer directed in the meeting that medical staff should be present in all hospitals on the day of polling till the end of polling."
Apart from this, the concerned departments related to electricity and drinking water supply should ensure arrangements at all polling stations.
The Chief Electoral Officer has instructed the Public Works Department to keep all highways, roads, and connecting roads on alert mode in view of landslides or any other obstruction till the safe return of the polling parties to their destinations.
Meanwhile, As the first phase of Lok Sabha polls starts on April 19, Uttarakhand's Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Vijay Kumar Jogdande, provided information about the booths being prepared for the polls.
The Lok Sabha elections for all five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand are scheduled to take place in a single phase on April 19.
Speaking to ANI, Jogdande informed that they have arranged two helicopters for emergency service, adding that the voting this time will be casualty-free and no emergency situation would arise.
To increase voter turnout in the Hill State, more than 11,000 polling booths are being set up across the state. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami while speaking to reporters in Nainital on Wednesday, urged the voters to participate in the Lok Sabha elections in huge numbers.
Campaigning drew to a close in Uttarakhand at 5 pm on Wednesday evening, Chief Electoral Officer B VRC Purushottam said.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a roadshow in Haldwani on the last day of the election campaign, earlier on Wednesday.
After winning all five seats in Uttarakhand in the 2014 and 2019 general elections, the BJP is attempting to retain them for a third term.
Notably, the BJP won all five seats in both the 2014 and 2019 general elections and will be looking forward to repeating its performance. (ANI)
