Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other ministers of his cabinet paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, on his 155th birth anniversary on Wednesday.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 2 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other ministers of his cabinet paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, on his 155th birth anniversary on Wednesday.
CM Yogi Adityanath also participated in 'Swachhata Abhiyan' on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
CM Yogi Adityanath said, "Today the whole country is celebrating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and is forever indebted to his contributions towards India's freedom struggle and humanity. PM Narendra Modi's call of 'Sewa Pakhwada', which began on 17th September, and is celebrated as Vishwakarma Diwas and PM Narendra Modi's birthday, continues today on Gandhi Jayanti as well."

He further said that Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of cleanliness, women empowerment, local, and independence are still valid to this day.
"Swach Bharat Mission is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's vision of cleanliness. PM Modi is joining the campaign, which was started by him 10 years ago. Toilets have been built in more than 12 crore houses. Without women's empowerment, society cannot be strengthened and made self-reliant. Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of cleanliness, women empowerment, local, and independence are still valid to this day. All powerful nations in the world primarily achieved the aim of self-reliance," he added.
UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya participated in the 'Swachhata Pakhwada' programme at Hanuman Temple on this occasion.
Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, I participated in the 'Swachhata Abhiyan' at Hanuman Temple. This campaign will run across the nation...There should be awareness about cleanliness among the common citizens."
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Rajghat in the national capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Minister Manohar Lal and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi paid his heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, emphasising the lasting impact of Bapu's life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality, and said that these principles continue to inspire the people of the country.
"On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen," PM Modi said in a post on X. (ANI)
