Uttar Pradesh assembly budget session concludes; Speaker Mahana lauds "positive message of Mahakumbh"

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 6 (ANI): With the conclusion of the budget session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday, assembly Speaker Satish Mahana praised the issues which were raised in the House, and for sending a "positive message of Maha Kumbh" to everyone.
"I can say with confidence that today there was a positive discussion in the assembly, very good issues were raised and the government responded. A positive message of Maha Kumbh went to everyone. The budget was also presented. I say with pride that all our members are educated and are eager to work for the public," the assembly Speaker told ANI.
UP Deputy CM, Keshav Prasad Maurya also highlighted how the session was useful for the development of the state.
"The session has concluded. This session has been very useful for the development of Uttar Pradesh," Maurya told reporters in Lucknow.
The budget session of UP assembly started on February 18, and concluded today, March 5. The session lasted for over 3 weeks, during which the state's 2025-26 budget of more than Rs 8 lakh crore was presented in the assembly.
The last day of the assembly saw Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath talking about the recently concluded Maha kumbh mela, and also lashing out at Samajwadi Party. UP assembly also banned pan-masala and gutka in the assembly premises after a spitting incident.
"The consumption of pan-masala and gutka is hereby prohibited on Vidhan Sabha premises, with immediate effect. If any individual consumes pan-masala and gutka on Vidhan Sabha premises, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed on them, and necessary action as per rule will be taken against them," Mahana stated.
On the Maha Kumbh, UP CM Adityanath slammed the opposition for spreading "negative propaganda" about the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and said that despite their efforts to spread misinformation, they were unable to shake the faith of the people in the country.
Speaking at the UP legislative assembly, CM Yogi said, "The negative propaganda and misinformation that was spread had no impact on the faith of the people of the country. Your attempts to spread negativity were unsuccessful. You (opposition) tried to strategically spread negativity, but neither the people of Uttar Pradesh nor the country believed your words. Soon, the public will stop listening to you."
The CM further shared a success story of a boatman earning Rs 30 crores during the duration of the religious congregation.
"A boatman's family, who owned 130 boats, earned a total of Rs 30 crore in just 45 days during the Mahakumbh. This means each boat earned Rs 23 lakh over the 45 days, which translates to about Rs 50,000-52,000 per day," said CM Yogi. (ANI)
