Urgent action will be taken to protect Varkala Cliff: Union Minister Suresh Gopi

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 22 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi along with former Union Minister V Muraleedharan visited the Varkala cliff here on Saturday, which was damaged by heavy rains and landslides.

Suresh Gopi stated that urgent measures will be taken to protect the cliff, which the Geological Survey of India has documented as a natural wonder.
He plans to discuss the matter with the Department of Geology and the District Collector and will submit a report to the central ministries soon, the minister said.

Muraleedharan had previously called for immediate government intervention to protect the cliff.
The central team arrived at 8 AM and spent about an hour assessing the situation at the cliff. (ANI)
