Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 5 (ANI): A wild animal allegedly attacked six villagers while they were asleep in Daudpur Daakhi village, located in the Chakia Kotwali area of Chandauli district. The attack has intensified concerns about the growing menace of wild animals in Purvanchal.
According to local sources, the incident occurred late at night when the villagers were resting both inside and outside their homes. The wild animal, which villagers described as having large ears and big teeth, struck without warning, injuring six people: 12-year-old Sohail, 70-year-old Masla, 25-year-old Ranjit Kumar, 18-year-old Pankaj, 45-year-old Kusum Lata, and 75-year-old Jamuni.
"The wild animal came to the village while they were sleeping and attacked. It had big ears and big teeth. Hearing the noise, the wild animal ran away towards the forest," said an injured villager. The sudden commotion led nearby villagers to rush to the scene, helping the injured and scaring the wild animal back into the forest.
The injured were quickly transported to Chakia Joint District Hospital. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent of the hospital, reported, "Animal bite patients have come to the hospital. All those who have been treated are out of danger." Two of the injured were discharged after receiving initial treatment, while the other four, including two elderly individuals and a child, are still undergoing care at the hospital.
Following the attack, the Forest Department's Chandraprabha Range team arrived at the village to investigate. Forest Inspector Ramcharitra Singh, who visited the hospital and the scene of the attack, stated, "The villagers have been attacked by a wild animal. The incident took place in Daudpur Dakhai village. The forest department team went to the spot. Traps are being set up in the village and a cage will also be set up. From the conversation with the villagers and the identification of the animal by them, it seems to be an animal like a hyena."(ANI)
