Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 15 (ANI): To ensure the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women, the Uttar Pradesh government will now formulate an annual action plan addressing the specific needs of women and girls, a government release said on Sunday.
As per the release, following the inauguration of Mission Shakti 4.0 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Panchayati Raj Department has outlined a strategy to promote the engagement of women in rural areas.
Simultaneously, ongoing initiatives are in place to enhance the rights, leadership capabilities, and communication skills of women representatives.
Shardiya Navratri's inaugural day coincides with International Rural Women's Day. Subsequently, from October 16 to 18, women who serve as the heads of Model Gram Panchayats will be recognized and honoured.
Furthermore, between October and mid-January 2024, with the assistance of voluntary organizations, approximately 17,500 women leaders will undergo training to enhance their knowledge of rights, leadership skills, and communication abilities.
Within this timeframe, as part of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, over 1.15 lakh participants will receive training through the Panchayati Raj Training Institute and the District Panchayat Resource Centre. Additionally, the poverty alleviation action plans created by women's self-help groups will be integrated into the annual action plans of Gram Panchayats.
In line with CM Yogi's intentions, the Panchayati Raj Department is also contributing to the upliftment of women. Throughout the period from October to mid-December, both area and district panchayats will hold meetings involving women members to incorporate their concerns into the annual action plan.
There are also directives to facilitate meetings specifically for women and to include the requirements of women and girls in the GPDP. Additionally, maintenance and renovation of girls' toilets in government primary, upper secondary, and secondary schools located within the Panchayats will be carried out.
Under Mission Shakti, the emphasis is on ensuring 100 per cent registration in Gram Panchayats and CSR portal under all three-tier Panchayats while monitoring the birth of a girl child from October 2023. Gram Panchayat, Kshetra Panchayat and District Panchayat will campaign for public awareness regarding girl birth registration. (ANI)
