Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 5 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to transform Krishi Kumbh 2.0 into a prominent global event, which is likely to take place in December. The aim is to make more than two lakh farmers from across the country and the world familiar with Uttar Pradesh's agricultural culture.
"The primary goal of Krishi Kumbh 2.0 is to enhance technical awareness among the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. The event will introduce them to new agricultural technologies and innovations. This event will be organised at the Indian Sugarcane Research Institute in Lucknow. After the formation of the Yogi government in 2017, Krishi Kumbh 1.0 was organised in 2018, which was quite successful," according to a press release by the Chief Minister's office.
Recently, the Chief Minister held a high-level meeting wherein he laid a strong emphasis on the participation of more than 2 lakh farmers in the second edition of the Krishi Kumbh. Instructions were given to invite esteemed national and international agricultural companies and organisations, agricultural universities, agricultural science centres, and progressive farmers.
In this context, emphasis was also placed on their involvement in learning about new farming and agricultural practices in various nations, including Japan, Israel, Germany, and the USA.
"During Krishi Kumbh 2.0, there will be discussions on several agricultural topics. These discussions will focus on challenges related to cow-based natural farming, climate change preparedness, encouragement for sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship based on FPOs, cost reduction in farming, and efforts to increase the contribution of the agriculture sector in making the state a $1 trillion economy. The discussions will also cover various dimensions of agriculture, including lectures, demonstrations of agricultural drones, and agricultural exhibitions," according to the press release.
"After the Yogi government came to power in 2017, the first Krishi Kumbh was held in 2018. It received praise from all over the country. More than one lakh farmers participated from various departments, and discussions were held on several topics in 14 sessions," the release said.
Notably, over 300 companies and organisations also took part, and it generated revenue of around Rs 2 crore. Additionally, a national-level workshop on stubble management was conducted. Krishi Kumbh 1.0 was quite successful and filled with achievements, the release added. (ANI)
