UP DGP OP Singh speaking to reporters on Saturday

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Oct 20 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police OP Singh on Saturday reached ADG Lucknow Zone office and held a meeting to take updates of the ongoing probe in the murder of Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Singh said, "We held discussions over the ongoing investigation. We have contacted Gujarat and Maharashtra ATS. Our team has also spoken to the woman who was seen in the CCTV footage. All aspects of the incident are being probed and all options are kept open."
He also said that police is keeping a tab on social media to prevent any rumour-mongering.
"We are monitoring social media. If required we will take legal action so that no false information is spread among people. We are observing social media very deeply and minutely", he added.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had detained one person here in connection with the murder of Tiwari at his residence in Lucknow.
On Saturday, former Governor of UP Ram Naik had said that such individual incidents are not a reflection of state's law and order.
"It is not right to derive a conclusion on such one-two incidents. If anyone is murdered, it is governments work to look into it and ensure that such incidents don't happen and Chief Minister Yogi will work in this direction. UP is a very large state. I am concerned but the Chief Minister will do what needs to be done", Naik told ANI.
Tiwari was shot dead at his residence in Lucknow by some unidentified persons on Friday afternoon. The family of the victim had said that he had received a death threat in 2016.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that killers of Kamlesh Tiwari will be brought to book. (ANI)
