UP Defence Expo commences in Kanpur

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Nov 15 (ANI): The 'Uttar Pradesh Defence Expo 2018' commenced in Kanpur on Wednesday.
The three-day event, organised at the Stadium Ground of CSA University, will conclude on November 16.
The defence expo is being organised to raise the pitch for the proposed Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor.
The event was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh industries minister Satish Mahana. Apart from Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), other private and public companies also took part in the expo.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahana said that the expo is a new era of industrialisation in the state. He further informed that the state government has identified land for the proposed defence corridor and they will soon initiate the process to acquire the land.
"This expo will give a boost to the Defence Corridor. The defence corridor will also pave way for a number of job opportunities," Mahana said.
The defence industrial corridor was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit in February this year. (ANI)
